An important facet of the
outsourcing decision is the stability and quality of the
outsourcing partner. While cost is a factor of the decision,
the lack of quality and stability in a business partner can
produce unexpected costs far outweighing the false savings of
a low price provider. Intangibles of the service provider must
be considered in order to get the total picture of your
potential outsourcing partner. The following are the tangible
and intangible benefits that differentiate Cass in the market.
Financial Security and Stability
Cass Information Systems Inc.
is a Missouri-based Bank Holding Company. We are publicly held
and traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market (CASS). We furnish our
financial information and projections to the Securities and
Exchange Commission and the NASDAQ on a regular basis. Our
financial results and operational controls are closely
scrutinized by the following entities:
a. Federal Reserve System
b. Federal & State Departments of Finance
c. KPMG LLP (10-Q’s; 10-K’s; and Annual Reports)
d. Cummings, Ristau & Associates, P.C. (Third Party Review)
e. Customers’ Internal Audit Personnel
We comply with the
provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley and we make the Statement on
Auditing Standards (SAS) 70 Type II Report available to our
customers and prospective customers.
Cass management desires,
and as a bank holding company is required, to maintain a
strong financial position to protect the assets of its
depositors and customers. It is this financial strength, as
reflected in our financial statements and our company’s
longevity, that provides security for our customers. In
addition to this strength, Cass maintains a banker's blanket
bond. This type of bond is specifically designed for financial
institutions to protect third parties. Standard commercial
crime policies (bonds) are typically designed to protect
company assets, not third parties.
Business Recovery
We have a
Business Recovery Plan that provides for resumption of
processing within 48 hours of a disaster. Virtually identical
hardware in both our Columbus and St. Louis processing centers
allow for all Cass' locations to recover processing. In
addition, multiple sites provide built-in backup support if an
incident requires redeployment of resources.
Management Depth and Experience
Unlike many smaller providers in the industry,
Cass is not dependent on one or a few owners for the
continuity of the business. Cass’ multiple processing
locations and management depth ensures you of processing
stability. We also bring years of experience in the industry
to provide the best service possible. Many of Cass' key staff
members have been employees with the company for more than
fifteen years. Our current Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer, with over thirty-five years tenure, spent more than
ten years directly managing the Transportation Information
Systems division of the company.
We substantially invest in
personnel and the required technology to ensure we provide
superior customer support and service in our relationships.
Our Customer Service Team includes an assigned Account Manager
who manages the customer relationship with representatives
from systems, operations and carrier relations. This level of
customer support provides the highest echelon of quality
services, and the most extensive customer oriented focus in
our industry.
Internet Capabilities
Our Internet Reporting
System, CassPortTM, allows customers to drill down into their
data warehouse maintained at Cass to isolate information for
analysis purposes. You can use our on-line reporting
capabilities or download data to feed your internal systems.
Our strategy is to continue to offer innovative data delivery
and reporting solutions through our Internet site.
Freight Rating Capabilities
Ratemaker® is the culmination of thirty
years of development in freight rating technology. It is the
recognized leading rating system. Cass utilizes this service
to pre-audit freight bills and generate accruals for
customers. Ratemaker is also Web-enabled and offered as a
service application. Ratemaker securely stores, maintains, and
retrieves all freight rates/freight types. Cass customers can
access Ratemaker for both on-line or batch rate inquiries.
Electronic Invoicing Support Services
Cass maintains a
dedicated department to handle all aspects of carrier
electronic billing/receivables. This group solicits, tests and
provides documentation for electronic billing services. It is
our goal to move toward electronic transactions whenever
possible providing the best in efficiency and accuracy.
Daily Processing Visibility
We have established a workflow model
that is based on a daily freight bill processing and close
schedule. Our production scheduling and processing controls
have been developed to ensure that customers receive
visibility to freight bill information the day after
processing. There are no "black holes" or lack of timely
visibility. Daily processing provides greater exposure to your
information and increased control as compared to traditional
weekly batch processing models.
Payment Flexibility
We provide
a flexible carrier payment system that enables customers to
pay their carriers within specific negotiated terms, while
maximizing their use of cash. In addition, we have automated
the carrier payment process, using EFT for funds transfer. We
also use EDI and the Internet for payment application.
Customers are assured of paying within terms, not too early or
too late.
Customers
We have an impressive list of
long-standing customers, who value our services and the
importance of using a supplier that can continue to respond to
the dynamic changes in their businesses. Cass serves more
Fortune 500 companies than any comparable service.
Industry Expertise
Cass has the most industry experience in
implementing complex processing systems that meet the unique
internal requirements of large companies. Our system
architecture allows us to provide customized solutions. We do
not fit companies into a “standardized” system. Cass prides
itself on providing system solutions that companies are unable
to develop internally, or with other service providers. We
have expertise in developing MatchPay systems that enable us
to match freight invoices from carriers, to shipment records
received from customers. These systems provide benefits that
include—Ease of establishing Carrier EDI invoicing; Accrual
generation; and AutoPay processing, within a controlled
payment environment.
We support file formats from various accounting systems such
as SAP, Peoplesoft®, Oracle®, etc., as well as proprietary
systems. Currently, we support over ninety MatchPay relationships
with customers in varied industries.
