Cass Intermodal Linehaul Index

Coming: New Intermodal Index & Improved Methodology

Beginning with the April 2013 data, the Cass Intermodal Linehaul Index will become the Cass Intermodal Price Index. The new index will include all costs associated with an intermodal move (linehaul, fuel and accessorials) as opposed to the previously measured linehaul component only.

The new price index, current through April 2013, will be published on Thursday, May 23.

Additionally, the data in the April index will reflect recent improvements to methodology. Specifically, enhanced sophistication in our data filtering will allow us to better adjust for mix shifts and other previously undetectable deviations in the data. When back tested, the new data has a higher degree of correlation with actual reported statistics from the industry’s largest carriers.
